DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE – Santa Monica, CA   
Our client, one of Fortune’s TOP 75 companies to work for is seeking a new Director of Business Intelligence.  This is a full time, direct hire position based in Santa Monica, CA.  Relocation assistance will be provided for out of area candidates. 
 
The Director of Business Intelligence will work closely with the Marketing, Finance and Strategy organizations to deliver fact-based insights and recommendations to make informed planning decisions. You will be relied upon to be an expert in the video game industry including market analysis, emerging platforms studies, consumer interests, competitor activity and new interactive business models such as mobile, free-to-play, VR, etc... This involves proactively researching the video game space across different business models and territories, gaining knowledge about different areas within the market and highlighting both opportunities and challenges. You will use large amounts and multiple sources of data, both internal and external to deliver actionable insights to decision makers in the organization. Key areas of focus will be to manage and be involved in market modelling and forecasting, competitive insights, geographic SWOT analyses, project management, as well as various ad hoc requests.

Daily duties will include, but are not limited to:
-People Management:
  • Manage team of 4-5 highly capable individuals
  • Ensure proper utilization of resources, prioritization of team projects and deadlines are all met in an expedient manner
-Research, Quantitative Analysis & Reporting:
  • Conduct in-depth research of emerging segments of traditional retail, traditional digital and new (social, mobile, FTP) gaming through independent research and internal collaboration
    § Ability to triangulate multiple data sources is critical
  • Develop and maintain KPI’s, forecasts, opportunity analyses with recommendations for action
-Presentation of Findings and Insights
  • Support key functional groups with the construction and analysis of applicable forecasts and models using multiple data sources to support assertions. This may include Earnings Calls, Franchise Planning, Annual Planning and Sales & Marketing strategy documents and presentation materials
  • Independently monitor trends inside and outside of the company in order to focus forecasting efforts on information that is most important to the company and the industry
  • Coordinate efforts across multiple functional groups to drive consensus and to ensure deliverables meet the organization’s needs
  • Develop presentations for internal and external purposes to aid in P&L analysis, sales partnerships, long-term strategy sessions and market assessments
  • Collaborate with Consumer Insights, Category Management and Business Planning to enhance analyses and findings with internal research
-Project Management
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of strategic projects for executive team, including market and genre analysis, competitive title assessment, benchmarking and analytics supporting internal planning and strategy
  • Oversee implementation of new tools and models within BI organization in a clear and timely manner

 Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a quantitative field
  • +10 years of professional working experience in business, data, or consumer analytics
  • +3 years of managerial experience
  • Must have strong communication skills, presentation skills, and ability to build relationships required
  • Must have strong quantitative analysis skills and a history of making data driven decisions
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office software required, with expert level Excel skills required
  • Must have expert ability in developing executive presentations materials including the ability to create concise narrative from complex or lengthy research findings
  • Skillful in BI tools such as Tableau, Qlickview, Hyperion and OBIEE
  • Passion for and knowledge of Video Game Industry preferred
  • An understanding of “software as a service” business model along with in-game monetization a plus
  • Ability to prioritize projects, and attention to detail and accuracy required
  • Must be flexible and able to deal with ambiguity regularly
