Our client, a leader in the entertainment industry, is seeking a new Manager, Transactional Accounting for their North American businesses.  This person will be responsible for the general accounting and financial reporting management and will have oversight responsibility for all aspects of GL accounting and related sub-processes.  The ideal candidate will develop, document and enforce the proper accounting methods, procedures and policies.  This person will also carry out consistent and efficient month-end and quarter-end close processes that ensure the timely processing of accurate monthly results.
  • Responsible for day-to-day general ledger accounting and reporting
  • Manage monthly and quarterly close process
  • Perform and develop new analytics, as necessary, to ensure propriety of GL balances
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls
  • Prepare & review general ledger reconciliations (including bank account, inventory, accrued expenses, intercompany, etc.) and account analysis
  • Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements
  • Supervise and instruct individuals who create entries that affect the general ledger ensuring accuracy
  • Responsible for reviewing the work of direct reports, and engaging in direct reports training and professional development
  • Identify, develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Special project and ad hoc reporting, as needed
  • Support annual external audit
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years general accounting experience
  • 3 years of public accounting experience, strongly preferred
  • Sound understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Knowledge in month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Experience supervising and managing an accounting team
  • Strong attention to detail, while producing accurate and high-quality work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Focused problem-solving and analysis
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook)
  • Intermediate to advanced level with Excel
  • Experience in the use of Oracle or SAP, preferred
